There are 3 hiking trails around the Shing Mun Reservoir (or Jubilee Reservoir), i.e. Maclehose Trail Stage 7, Wilson Trail Stage Stage 7 and Pineapple Dam Nature Trail.

Here hikers can experience two extremes of nature: in the rainy season, when the water level is high, trees are immersed in the water. In the dry season, hikers can walk closer to the center of the reservoir and see the roots of the trees exposed in the air.

To get to Shing Mun Reservoir, take minibus 82 outside Tsuen Wan MTR station and get off at the last stop.

In 2003, I moved to Hong Kong with a dream of traveling around the world. Later I found out, HK is an amazing "mini world". Other than skyscrapers, a few steps outside the modern city, it has steep hills, winding coastlines, outlying islands, millions of years volcanic rocks, remote beaches, unspoilt fishing villages, secret waterfalls, wild animals and ancient forests. Follow me now to explore the Hong Kong less traveled.
